This Is Who I Am Now: Artists on Politics

February 20, 2017

February 20, 2017

19:00 To 21:00

The Monocle, Manchester Avenue, St. Louis, MO, United States

Event Description

Artists from all disciplines present self-portraits in the age of Trump, addressing their fears, concerns, and hopes in whatever medium they prefer. We wish to represent as wide a pool as possible of demographic groups, especially those who stand to be directly affected by the administration’s policies. Our goal is to build empathy by making these stories concrete and personal to people who are right in front of you, as well as creating an environment of support to those who most need it right now. The more personal you are willing to make your story, the better.

The evening will be pre-programmed, but will resemble an open mic in format, with each individual artist or group solely responsible for their own segment.

This is a one-night performance on February 20th, 2017, at The Monocle starting at 7:00 p.m. Admission will be free. The bar will be open. This program is presented as part of the nationwide Not My President’s Day series organized by Bad Hombres and Nasty Women (https://badandnasty.com/).

ARTISTS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE:

All work should be original (highly encouraged) or performed with proper permissions. Pieces should aim to be five to ten minutes in length. As this is a piece of political activism with no budget, we are unable to provide compensation.
