WE THE PEOPLE: PERFORMANCE ART & ACTIVISM

A local group is turning a nationwide day of performance protest into an evening focused on local talent and community engagement.

On Monday, February 20, at 7:30 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton, a group of local artists will host “We The People,” a cabaret performance to celebrate community, showcase local talents and passions, and support community nonprofits.

Performers include:
· Lenore VanderZee
· Samantha Stinson
· Angie Sweigart-Gallagher
· Cully Long
· Rebecca Weld
· Rivka Rocchio
· students from SLU and SUNY Potsdam, and more.

Learn more about missions, volunteer opportunities, or pledging monthly donations to the organizations vital to our community. Organizations in attendance will be:
· GardenShare
· Deep Root Center for Self-Directed Learning
· Boys & Girls Club of Massena
· Church and Community Program
· Frederic Remington Art Museum
· Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ)
· Local Living Venture
· Girl Scouts, and more

“We The People” is being organized by an independent group of local performance artists and activists. The event is a Donate-What-You-Can and all proceeds will be divided amongst the non-profits participating in the event.

The UU Church is located at 3 ½ East Main Street in Canton.
